Care and maintenance
Silver
Silver is a natural element that develops a patina over time and will often react by being mate in use or oxidizing.
You can clean your silver jewelry yourself by using a mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush. Rinse the jewelry afterward and dry it thoroughly! This way, you can regularly restore shine to your silver pieces and remove the worst oxidation or dirt.
Gold plated
Your gold-plated piece is crafted from sterling silver and coated with 14 karat gold.
The jewelry is plated with 14 karat gold to achieve a refined, neutral tone that matches the standard karat used in fine gold jewelry.
ByBendixen has it's jewelry gold-plated by specialists in Copenhagen with 40 years of experience. This ensures high quality and production under proper conditions.
Gold-plated jewelry is still delicate and sensitive to wear, as it consists of a thin layer applied to solid sterling silver. Avoid wearing the jewelry in water, in contact with chemicals, or against hard surfaces. These factors may cause the plating to fade.
Gold-plated jewelry requires care over time, and your piece can always be renewed with a new layer of gold plating for a fee.
Amber
Amber is an organic material made from resin that has fossilized over many, many years in the sea. It is therefore important to take good care of your amber jewelry. Amber does not tolerate direct, intense heat, so avoid leaving your jewelry in the sun for extended periods. Please also avoid contact to chemical products and wearing the jewelry in the shower.
